Ministry, Mission and Ordination

Often the discussion about ordination focusses on women in ministry, but the fact is that our theology of ordination influences mission at all levels. The 2010 General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church made a commitment to study the theology of ordination, and set up a Theology of Ordination Study Committee. Each Division was asked to study the question separately, and to submit a report.

 

This book makes the report from the Trans-European Division available in popular form. While preserving the depth of the original report, Tom de Bruin has made the content of the TED Biblical Research Committee’s comprehensive study available in everyday language. This overview is essential reading for those who want a clear understanding of a complex subject.

 

Dr Tom De Bruin is currently youth and communication director for the Netherlands Union Conference. He has served the Seventh-day Adventist Church as senior pastor, church planter and Union Executive Secretary. He received his PhD in Biblical Studies at Leiden University and remains active academically both as a contract lecturer for Newbold College of Higher Education, UK and as a visiting scholar at the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society, NL.
