DVD: Faces Around the Manger

£3.00

Every person who was involved with the Nativity was changed by that event. Some, like Herod, experienced a threat and would do anything to crush this child. Others, like the Magi, had studied their way to the exciting discovery that the Messiah was to be born, and risked everything to greet the new-born King. Many people were caught up in this hinge of history and pivotal drama of fulfilling prophecy. Their experiences, in many ways, reflect our own threat of commitment or thrill of discovery as we experience Jesus. He still offers to be our King and Saviour today. He is no longer a babe in the manger, but He still calls us to contemplate the interdiction of God into human history and to make a choice in how we respond to His birth, His life, and His promise to return again.

As with the other DVD sets in this series, the main purpose is to bring biblical people and their events to life – to put reality into the scriptural narrative. This is done in order to bring us face to face with our own faith, doubts, fears, flaws, potentials, and needs – that we, too, may be changed.

Details in harmony with the customs of the day, and some literary creativity, are used to flesh out the characters and their stories. Serious study has been made to stay true to both biblical and historical reality.

The enclosed study guides and background materials on each character can be used for individual reflection or for group discussion. You are encouraged to write out your responses to gain maximum meaning and impact. Permission is granted to duplicate the study guide materials for non-commercial purposes.

Disc One features Herod the Great, Joseph the Carpenter, and The Magi. Disc Two features Jesse the Innkeeper, James The Just, and a Shepherd.
